No garden outlet this year. Instead, I’ve got a covered deck. Thinking about throwing some romaine lettuce butts in the self-watering containers and seeing if they grow. Will probably end up buying some chard transplants too.

The best time to fertilize new seedling is when they form “true leaves”. The first two leaves that appear on a seedling are called “cotyledons” and look similar on most plants. Cotyledons provide nutrients to the seedling until true leaves form and the plant can start to photosynthesize!
